Celebrating Fantasic Children’s Brain/Body Balancing Workshops

Children’s Brain/Body Balancing – “Students have demonstrated growth!” Comment on using CBBB movements at Helen Cordero School – Pre-K – 2 grade

Thank you so much to all the parents, teachers and professionals who joined us on Saturday, September 8th in Albuquerque at the beautiful African American Performing Arts Center for the last day-long workshop in 2012 on how to use simple, controlled movements to help children focus, feel calm, concentrate and self-regulate – in under a minute. Thank you for sharing the excitement and joy that simple movement can create so quickly and easily inside you.

Children’s Brain/Body Balancing also recently inspired the dedicated EAs at East San Jose Elementary School in Albuquerque, NM, the devoted professionals at Hogares Inc. in Albuquerque, NM and the hard-working teachers at La Promesa Early Learning Center in Albuquerque, NM. Thank you all for your dedication and commitment to helping children learn and succeed using movement every day.

In spring/summer 2013 I will offer more workshops. So you too can come and learn dozens of unique and fun movements you can use with children in the classroom, at home, or on the go. You’ll also learn the Childhood Brain Science that supports movement for improving behavior and learning and hear tips on nutrition, temperament, intelligence, ADHD, and more. I look forward to meeting you next year!

Doctors Agree: Do NOT Medicate Children for Difficult Behavior

A panel of renowned medical doctors and a lawyer explain the dangers of giving ADHD and psychotic medications to children and the damage these drugs do to the developing brain, body, and psyche of children. The drugs do not provide long term changes in behavior and they expose children to the risk of drug dependency, addiction, and mild as well as severe side effects that could last a lifetime. These professionals strongly recommend positive medication-free alternatives for helping children who demonstrate difficult behavior. Positive and effective alternatives include exercise, counseling, and behavior modification.

Marcia Lee’s presentation focuses on:

“Childhood “ADHD” Behavior – The Neuroscience Behind Using Movement to
Self-Regulate Instead of Medication”
Current neuroscientific research demonstrates that movement is one of the most effective means of stimulating and balancing the brain. The physiology of a child’s developing brain creates the opportunity for self-regulation through simple movements that balance both hemispheres of the brain without the use of medication, ameliorating childhood behaviors labeled “ADHD” (which are actually normal behaviors) in the classroom, at home, and on the go. Research also indicates that using movement before any learning activity improves learning and retention, creating an effective teaching strategy for the classroom.

Welcome – Open Forum Q & A for Teachers, Parents, Professionals

Welcome to Solutions Without Drugs!
My company is dedicated to helping teachers, parents, and professional show children how to focus, feel calm, and self-regulate by using simple, fun movements before any activity. As a reading specialist, I have watched children do a movement for less than a minute and improve their reading skills, change their behavior, and feel more confident and proud. All of this and more without the use of medication.

A few years ago two parents came to me at an after-school program asking for help with their child’s ADHD behaviors. They knew how unique and intelligent their 7-year old son was and did not want to subject him to stigmatizing labels, drug side effects, or personality changes brought on by medication. I started developing movements that helped little Chet focus, calm himself down, and feel positive about his unique temperament. We all celebrated!

Now I teach teachers how to make movement a regular, natural, enjoyable part of every class. I teach parents how to use movement with their children at home and on the go so that their children have tools to self-regulate. The movements are safe, easy, and fun. And best of all, they work!

I’d like to hear from you. What are the challenges you face with children’s behavior? What would you like to know about Children’s Brain/Body Balancing and the workshops? Let’s create drug-free solutions for children together!
